About us

Jacob sheep lambs
My first Jacob Sheep were bottle lambs Hurricane Hill Amethyst (center) and Jewel Creek Druzy (left). We brought them home in May of 2007.

Welcome to Crazy Daisy Jacobs! We raise a small flock of Jacob Sheep on our dairy farm is south-eastern MN. My first Jacobs were bottle lambs (pictured above) that I purchased from Hurricane Hill farm in 2007. In 2008, I bought my first ram, Solar, from Craft's at Bluffton. I lamb around 5 ewes in April and usually have some rams and younger ewes around as well.

Jacob sheep are named after the flock of speckled sheep that were Jacob's wages during the time he worked for his father-in-law as mentioned in the Bible. They began spreading to the U.S. in the early 1900s and have significantly increased in numbers since then. For more information on this unique breed please visit the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association (JSBA) website at www.jsba.org.

Jacobs are very useful aminals. Their beautiful fleece is highly sought after by hand spinners and is ideal for making blankets, hats, scarves, pelts, etc. with a combination of several natural colors available. Their horms can be used to make buttons and other trinkets. In addition Jacobs provide a lean, flavorful carcass which is enjoyed by many.  Jacob sheep are good mothers and generally twin having healthy, energetic lambs. Also, they are a smaller more efficient breed with tons of character! All in all Jacobs are a beautiful, unique breed...no wonder so many people fall in love with them!!

Our goal is to raise healthy Jacobs within the registration standards of JSBA of which I became a member in 2008. Each spring, I vaccinate my sheep for CD/T (lambs get two shots) and I worm them for internal parasites twice a year or as needed. Pens are cleaned routinely; and each animal's feet get trimmed at least once a year. If you are interested in a specific animal, or would like more pictures or information please contact Crazy Daisy Jacobs today at:   manager@crazydaisyjacobs.com    (507) 789-5937
